Healthy Textures..The Answer to Healthy Hair!!!

Whether it’s short, long, relaxed, or natural, hair is the one thing that women adore.

Women put much time, effort, and money into grooming hair. However, for college students maintaining beautiful healthy locks can become consuming towards time and money. As a result, students either have a do-it-yourself approach, or have their friends attempt to do it for them. Without the proper hair care knowledge, this can be detrimental to the hair. The end result could be less hair instead of healthy hair.

By all means, students should embrace the do-it-yourself hair approach, because it saves time and money. However, with this method, research and planning key. There are many websites that give great information on healthy hair, but Healthy Textures (healthytextures.typepad.com) is the best site to go to for those looking to take on the do-it-yourself hair approach. Healthy Textures is an online community with many members who are looking to achieve healthy or longer hair, as well as share there hair journey experience.

On this site there are tutorials on how to do certain hair styles that will aid in hair growth and hair health. Healthy Textures offers many hair alternatives for all types of hair. For an example roller setting, which is a setting that many are familiar with, is great for those who are looking to use less heat on the hair. This technique is also great while “stretching”. Stretching is extending the weeks between relaxers. Stretching is also practiced to make sure there is no overlapping when relaxing.

Women who are looking for a healthy hair regimen or healthy hair products should definitely use this site as a tool. The members on this site are just as inspirational as the site creator Marcherieamor. This site is almost like a movement that encourages members to take a hair journey towards healthy. Marcheriamor suggests members, while on their hair journey, create 5 goals for their hair, take pictures to monitor the status of their hair, create a hair regimen, and record the products they use to decide which ones to stick with.

The information can become overwhelming, because there is so much to take in. Just remember that you don’t have to purchase the pricey products that the site suggests. There might be generic brands of those products that offer the same results at a more affordable price.

While in college schedules can get hectic, but healthy hair shouldn’t be a sacrifice. Therefore, Healthy Textures be an inspiration for better hair care.

The Beginning

As I glanced around campus on the first day of school, I noticed a lot of students were primped and ready to make a statement....A fashion statement that is! It kind of reminded of middle school, when I was excited for the first day of school just so I can I wear my brand new outfit. However, now that I'm in college, I have realized that its way more potent to leave an outstanding academic statement, than a fashion statement.

Don't get me wrong, you should always look your best! In the words of my middle school principal, "When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you do good!" The phrase is so true, but people remember by what you did not what you look like.

So with that said I would like to encourage the students of Del.State to take more pride in their work, and don't be afraid to reach out for help.

There is plenty of assistance to students, but you have to search for it.

If you need help in writing or math, there are tutoring sessions held on the 2nd Floor of the William C. Jason Library.

Students should also get involved. Join campus clubs, or organizations. But always prioritize your time.
